Sovereignty

Sensitive datastays in Finland.

Server location alone doesn’t decide who can access the data. Sovereignty runs the requests you choose on open models on AIvantage’s own capacity in Finland. No hardware to buy or maintain.

Your data trains only your own savings model.

Problem

Is your data training the competitors of a foreign power?

You want your customer register, contracts and product development to benefit from AI, but every option on offer costs something. Either the data ends up under foreign law, or you have to buy and maintain your own hardware.

US cloud modelAn EU server doesn’t protect you.
Chinese modelData under Chinese law.
Own data centerThe law is covered, the bill isn’t.
AIvantageCapacity as a service.
Whose law?
Also US
i
The server is in the EU, for example in Frankfurt, but the model is run by a US company. It can be compelled to hand over the data it holds to US authorities. The EU–US agreement is fragile: the previous one was struck down by the EU court in 2020, and the current one is under appeal.
China’s
i
DeepSeek stores users’ data on servers in China. Chinese law obliges companies to support state intelligence and cooperate with it. Italy’s data protection authority blocked the use of DeepSeek in January 2025 because the company did not explain how it handles Europeans’ data.
EU and Finland’s
EU and Finland’s
i
Finnish AIvantage Oy runs the models on its own capacity in Finland. There is no US cloud giant in between, and the data does not leave the country.
Models
The best cloud models
Strong models
Within your hardware’s limits
Open models in Finland, others in the cloud
i
An open model is not as good as the best cloud model. Rules decide request by request what runs in Finland and what may continue to a cloud model through Shield.
Hardware
No hardware of your own
No hardware of your own
You buy and maintain
i
Your own hardware has to be bought, maintained and kept up to date, and most of the time it sits idle waiting for work.
No hardware of your own
Training use
Possible
i
The terms of consumer and free versions may allow prompts to be used for training.
Not known
i
The company has not told a European authority whether prompts are used for training.
No
Only your own savings model
i
Prompts are used only for your own savings model. Never shared models, other customers or our own purposes. Training excerpts are deleted after 180 days, and collection can be switched off.

Request by request

Rules decide what runs in Finland.

Your apps talk to a single OpenAI-compatible address. Shield detects sensitive data, and a rule routes the request either to our own capacity in Finland or to a cloud model through Shield.

1

No hardware of your own

The capacity is AIvantage’s, and it runs in Finland. You don’t need to buy or maintain servers.

2

No new integration

The same interface serves cloud models and our own capacity. Switching provider is a setting, not a new integration.

3

No lock-in

You get the request log and the Shield report as CSV files and the rules in YAML format. Nothing you accumulate is locked in with us.

Questions

Sovereignty, in questions

It settles where the server is, but not whose law the provider follows. A US company can be compelled to hand over the data it holds to US authorities even if the server is in the EU. The EU–US data transfer agreement is also fragile: the previous one was struck down by the EU court in 2020, and the current one is under appeal.

No. Sovereignty doesn’t come for free, so it doesn’t replace cloud models for everything. Our own use has shown, though, that a model doesn’t have to be the newest to be the most useful: it’s enough that it’s better than Copilot.

Sovereignty handles the tasks where the location of the data matters more than the last percent of quality, and other traffic continues to cloud models through Shield. Rules decide request by request what runs in Finland.

A marginal quality gap is a price many gladly pay to keep their own innovations from benefiting foreign states. Who are you giving your innovations to?

No. The requests you choose run on open models on AIvantage’s own capacity in Finland. There is no hardware to buy or maintain.

Only your own savings model. Your data trains only your own savings model – never shared models, other customers or our own purposes. Training excerpts are deleted after 180 days, collection can be switched off, and data is deleted on request. The terms of consumer and free versions, by contrast, may allow prompts to be used for model training, so it’s worth checking under what terms your staff use AI today.

Yes. Your app sends requests to the AIvantage router, which runs on a server of the Finnish provider UpCloud in Helsinki. From there the request continues to the model provider your rules allow. From prompts and responses we store only training excerpts for your own savings model. They are deleted after 180 days, and collection can be switched off. For reporting we store metadata such as time, model, tokens and price.

No. A whole company shouldn’t depend on a single AI provider, and neither should it depend on us. Your apps talk to one OpenAI-compatible address, and switching provider is a setting, not a new integration. The model provider’s key and account are yours at all times. You get the request log and the Shield report from the portal as CSV files and the rules in YAML format, so nothing you accumulate is locked in with us.
